I was 8 when my grandad passed away at age 59 - my grandmother came to our flat in Boston specifically to be with me - her favorite grandson (in tears for most of her stay). If he had just survived unti age 75- I would have been in college -and perhaps with his encouragment - taken up a degree in journalism or English (his comand of the language - with an MA in both Engish and Economics from Loyola in Madras - was at a phenomenal level of competency for an Indian journalist.)
His friend through correspondence was the Duke of Edenborough - perhaps if a greedy aunt had not demolished his house in Hyderabad to make way for a block of flats - I could have searched for the letters and have then published.
I found this title after a search on the internet I think in 2004 - a book or books that no one in his surviving family (including my own dad) was/were aware of. The reasons and story? Modesty? From what I was told by my grandmother with whom I was very close to until her death in the 90s - that was probably the case. Name, fame, fortune meant nothing to him - only the propagation of the teachings and values of Mahatma Gandhi....
I think some time ago I was searching for anything on the net regarding him - I was quite awed to discover a connection between his writing and its impressions on the thoughts of the first president of the African nation state Ghana - Kwame Nkrumah.
